Some historical notes

Welcome to Mill House

The Mill house, an authentic Patmos experience

The Mill house is a 17th century stately home. Its history as a mill, dating back to the 16th century, is evident even today from its hilltop position, while its furnaces are unusually large for a residence of that time.

We went to considerable pains to restore our house meticulously, preserving their unique architectural morphology and their ambience, created through generations of history. We are keenly involved and committed to maintaining the high standards of environmental and historic preservation that Chora enjoys. While we understand the need to adapt to the 21st century, and the inevitable pressure for development and change that stems from it, we believe that the uniqueness of Patmos – its identity, its heart – lies in its history and unique setting.

We therefore consider letting the house out for a few weeks every year, thus supporting its upkeep and preservation to mint architectural preservation standards; if you’re interested to stay in a truly historic, still comfortable house in the protected settlement of Chora, you may contact us. The house, restructured in 2004, sleeps 7 people, and is now one of the most distinguished stone properties of Chora.

Short Vila Description

The first floor of the house consists of the kitchen, the lemon tree terrace, a dining room with a large table seating 10 with a WC, a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a small lavatory.
